Research

Tamworth Heritage Magazine and its associated history, genealogy and archive groups can assist authors writing articles for the magazine or their own research.

We will be expanding this page just as soon as the Magazine Editor can chase up the research team who are currently in hiding in various pubs, tearooms, archives and holiday locations around the planet

Book Reviews

We do have history and heritage book reviews in the magazine which we have collected together Click here for the book reviews

We will be adding to these reviews and are looking at reviewing other items as well.

Apart from the book reviews THM also has "Specials" which are single topic PDF's some drawn from the magazine and some not.

Resources

THM maintains links with local history groups and museums in and around the Tamworth Area. Also a few more distant ones who cover things like Athelstan, Mercia etc Click here ,

British Library https://www.bl.uk/visit/
We house the national collection, with many unique items. You can't take books home, but you can use our Reading Rooms in London and Yorkshire for personal study and to access our collection. All you need is a free Reader Pass.
In addition the British Library has an on-line catalogue which can be searched. Due to a hack in 2023 this is slowly coming back on line. It takes time with a catalogue of around 200 Million items.

British Newspaper Archive https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/
The British Newspaper Archive is an online newspaper archive created by the partnership between Findmypast and the British Library. Our continued commitment to this epic endeavour means there are now millions of pages of news available online to search and explore. This consists of high quality scans of the pages AND OCR'ed text files of those pages.
